Rooms
For the first nine years, the Bryn Brooke Manor rooms bore the names we assigned to them, more or less by default, as our treasured workmen were renovating our considerable undertaking. The names were functional, if not terribly creative. The Blue Room had blue walls; The Porch Room has a sleeping porch; The Oak and Mahogany Rooms had furniture of that wood. Nearly a decade later, I’ve decided to name them, not in honor of baseball players or opera legends; nor of James Fenimore Cooper’s characters or even famous New Yorkers. Recalling fond memories of my brief cabaret career, our rooms are titled after my favorite tunesmiths – Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, and George Gershwin.
