Bryn Brooke Manor • Our Rooms

Our Rooms
For the first nine years, the Bryn Brooke Manor rooms bore the names we assigned to them, more or less by default, as our treasured workmen were renovating our considerable undertaking. The names were functional, if not terribly creative. The Blue Room had blue walls; The Porch Room has a sleeping porch; The Oak and Mahogany Rooms had furniture of that wood. Nearly a decade later, I've decided to name them, not in honor of baseball players or opera legends; nor of James Fenimore Cooper's characters or even famous New Yorkers. Recalling fond memories of my brief cabaret career, our rooms are titled after my favorite tunesmiths –Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, and George Gershwin.

The Gershwin Room (#1)

When it’s Summertime in Cooperstown, tuck into our cozy Gershwin Room, with its pleasant seclusion, subtle ocean theme, and the biggest bathroom in the house. Enjoy the view of the North Garden and our fabulous Camperdown elm, plus its location convenient to the Gathering Room, with its refrigerator, microwave and multi-channel television. The Gershwin’s warm yellow walls are adorned with artwork depicting the seaside in France, Belgium, the Caribbean, and Newport, RI. Now, that’s Nice Work if You Can Get It.

• One Queen Bed
• En suite Full Bathroom

The Porter Room (#2)

In the Still of the Night, the Porter Room’s carved four-poster queen bed is just the thing for blissful sleep. You’ll enjoy this beautiful room anytime of the Night and Day, with its magnificent bay window and antique mahogany furnishings. If it happens to be just Too Darn Hot, bring the temperature down with the in-room air-conditioning.

• One Queen Four Poster Bed
• Private shower bath a few steps outside of room

The Mercer Room (#3)

You’ll love the Mercer Room, Come Rain or Come Shine. With a gorgeous bay window view, warm American and English oak furniture, and both a queen and a twin bed, it’s just Too Marvelous for Words. The Mercer and Porter Rooms can be combined to make a spacious suite.

• One Queen Bed, One Twin Bed
• En suite Full Bathroom

The Carmichael Room (#4)

The Carmichael Room is perfect for Two Sleepy People, or even three, offering a queen and a twin bed. The Carmichael features an observation turret overlooking the pool, and a window-enclosed sleeping porch. Both are ideal for gazing at Stardust or looking for a Skylark. Carmichael and Mercer can collaborate to form a suite; both can also be combined with Porter for a harmonious trio of rooms, ideal for a group Travlin’ Light.
